Carlos Newton (16-14, 12) was born in The Valley, Anguilla on August 17, 1976. At the age of 19 years on April 26, 1996, he made his professional MMA debut against Jean Rivière, losing the fight via 1st-round submission.
On May 15, 1998, 21-year old Carlos Newton made his UFC debut on his 5th professional MMA fight at UFC 17 against Bob Gilstrap, winning the fight in the 1st round via submission.
He became the UFC welterweight champion on May 4, 2001 at age 24 on his 14th professional MMA fight at UFC 31 after defeating a 33-year old Pat Miletich via 3rd-round submission.
Newton's last fight was a 3-round unanimous decision loss to Brian Ebersole at age 33 on July 10, 2010. He retired from the sport of MMA following this loss.
