Mikkel Kessler (46-3, 35) was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on March 1, 1979. At the age of 19 years on March 20, 1998, he made his professional boxing debut against Kelly Mays, winning the fight via 1st-round KO.
On his 35th career fight at 25 years old, Kessler became a super-middleweight world champion on November 12, 2004 after defeating Manny Siaca via 7th-round retirement to win the WBA title.
Kessler's last fight was a super-middleweight world-title unification fight against Carl Froch on May 25, 2013. He lost the fight via 12th-round unanimous decision and lost the WBA (Regular) title. He retired from the sport of boxing following this loss.
