Joe Calzaghe (46-0, 32) was born in Hammersmith, London, England on March 23, 1972. At the age of 21 years on October 1, 1993, he made his professional boxing debut against Paul Hanlon, winning the fight via 1st-round TKO.
On his 23rd career fight at 25 years old, Calzaghe became a super-middleweight world champion on October 11, 1997 after defeating Chris Eubank via 12-round unanimous decision to win the vacant WBO title.
He then went on to become world champion at the light-heavyweight weight class as well, winning the The Ring title against Jeff Lacy via 12-round unanimous decision on March 4, 2006.
Calzaghe's last fight was a light-heavyweight (The Ring) world-title defense against Roy Jones Jr. on November 8, 2008. He won the fight via 12th-round unanimous decision and successfully defended the title. He retired undefeated with a 46-fight winning streak.
