Richie Woodhall (26-3, 16) was born in Birmingham, England on April 17, 1968. At the age of 22 years on October 18, 1990, he made his professional boxing debut against Kevin Hayde, winning the fight via 3rd-round TKO.
On his 22nd career fight at 28 years old, Richie Woodhall got a shot at the WBC middleweight titles against Keith Holmes on October 19, 1996 but lost the fight via 12th-round TKO.
He became a super-middleweight world champion (WBC) on March 27, 1998 at the age of 29 years old, on his 24th career fight, after defeating Thulani Malinga via 12-round unanimous decision.
Woodhall's last fight was a super-middleweight world-title fight against Joe Calzaghe for Calzaghe's WBO title on December 16, 2000. He lost the fight via 10th-round TKO. He retired from the sport of boxing following this loss.
