Thulani Malinga (44-13, 19) was born in Ladysmith, South Africa on December 11, 1955. At the age of 25 years on August 8, 1981, he made his professional boxing debut against Victor Zulu, winning the fight via 1st-round TKO.
On his 29th career fight at 33 years old, Thulani Malinga got a shot at the IBF super-middleweight titles against Graciano Rocchigiani on January 27, 1989 but lost the fight via 12-round unanimous decision.
He became a super-middleweight world champion (WBC) on March 2, 1996 at the age of 40 years old, on his 50th career fight, after defeating Nigel Benn via 12-round split decision.
