Fabrício Werdum (24-10-1, 18) was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil on July 30, 1977. At the age of 24 years on June 16, 2002, he made his professional MMA debut against Tengiz Tedoradze, winning the fight via 1st-round submission.
On April 21, 2007, 29-year old Fabrício Werdum made his UFC debut on his 13th professional MMA fight at UFC 70 against a 28-year old Andrei Arlovski but lost the fight via unanimous decision.
He became the UFC heavyweight champion on June 13, 2015 at age 37 on his 26th professional MMA fight at UFC 188 after defeating a 32-year old Cain Velasquez via 3rd-round submission.
