Michael Nunn (58-4, 38) was born in Davenport, Iowa, U.S. on April 14, 1963. At the age of 21 years on December 20, 1984, he made his professional boxing debut against John Borman, winning the fight via 1st-round TKO.

On his 31st career fight at 25 years old, Nunn became a middleweight world champion on July 28, 1988 after defeating Frank Tate via 9th-round TKO to win the IBF title.

He then went on to become world champion at the super-middleweight weight class as well, winning the WBA title against Víctor Córdoba via 12-round split decision on September 12, 1992.
