Donald Curry (34-6, 25) was born in Fort Worth, Texas, U.S. on September 7, 1961. At the age of 19 years on December 26, 1980, he made his professional boxing debut against Mario Tineo, winning the fight via 1st-round TKO.
On his 16th career fight at 21 years old, Curry became a welterweight world champion on February 13, 1983 after defeating Jun-Suk Hwang via 15-round unanimous decision to win the vacant WBA title.
He then went on to become world champion at the super-welterweight weight class as well, winning the WBC title against Marlon Starling via 15-round unanimous decision on February 4, 1984.
Curry's last fight was a 7th-round TKO loss to Emmett Linton at age 35 on April 9, 1997. He retired from the sport of boxing following this loss.
