On his 28th career fight at 19 years old, Harada became a flyweight world champion on October 10, 1962 after defeating Pone Kingpetch via 11th-round KO to win the WBA and The Ring titles.

He then went on to become world champion at the bantamweight weight class as well, winning the WBA, WBC and The Ring titles against Éder Jofre via 15-round split decision on May 18, 1965.

Harada's last fight was a featherweight world-title fight against Johnny Famechon for Famechon's WBC title on January 6, 1970. He lost the fight via 14th-round KO. He retired from the sport of boxing following this loss.
