Lionel Rose (42-11, 12) was born in Labertouche, Victoria, Australia on June 21, 1948. At the age of 16 years on September 9, 1964, he made his professional boxing debut against Mario Magris, winning the fight via 8-round points decision.
On his 30th career fight at 19 years old, Rose became a bantamweight world champion on February 27, 1968 after defeating Fighting Harada via 15-round unanimous decision to win the WBA, WBC and The Ring titles.
