On February 27, 1968 Lionel Rose fought Fighting Harada in a bantamweight world-title fight for Harada's WBA, WBC and The Ring titles. Rose was 19 years old and with a record of 28-2 (8), and Harada was 24 years old and with a record of 50-3 (19). Rose won the fight via 15-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new bantamweight world champion.
On August 28, 1968 Lionel Rose faced off against José Medel at age 20. He was coming in with a record of 31-2 (8), and Medel was 30 years old and with a record of 64-23-7 (39). Rose won the fight via 10-round majority decision.
