Cory Spinks (39-8, 11) was born in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S. on February 20, 1978. At the age of 19 years on November 21, 1997, he made his professional boxing debut against Hector Leguillow, winning the fight via 4-round unanimous decision.
On his 31st career fight at 24 years old, Cory Spinks got a shot at the IBF welterweight titles against Michele Piccirillo on April 13, 2002 but lost the fight via 12-round unanimous decision.
He became a welterweight world champion (IBF) on March 22, 2003 at the age of 25 years old, on his 33rd career fight, after defeating Michele Piccirillo via 12-round unanimous decision.
He then went on to become world champion at the super-welterweight weight class as well, winning the IBF title against Ricardo Mayorga via 12-round majority decision on December 13, 2003.
Spinks' last fight was a 12-round unanimous decision loss to Carlos Molina at age 34 on February 1, 2013. He retired on a 2-fight losing streak.
