Spinks won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and successfully defended his titles.
On December 13, 2003 Cory Spinks, the IBF champion, met Ricardo Mayorga, the WBA (Super), WBC and The Ring champion, in a welterweight world-title unification fight. Spinks was 25 years old and with a record of 32-2 (11), and Mayorga was 30 years old and with a record of 25-3-1 (22). Spinks won the fight via 12-round majority decision and and is crowned the unified IBF, WBA (Super), WBC and The Ring champion.
