Michael Spinks (Jinx) is a 68-year-old retired American professional boxer. He is a two-weightclass world champion with 6 world-title wins. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 1994.
Michael Spinks was born in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S. on July 22, 1956. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on April 16, 1977 against Eddie Benson. Spinks defeated Benson via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Spinks became a world champion at the age of 24 after 16 professional fights. He challenged Eddie Mustafa Muhammad for the WBA light-heavyweight title and defeated the champion via 15-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the heavyweight (IBF, The Ring) titles also to become a two-division world champion — and undisputed at light-heavyweight.
Spinks' last fight was a 1st-round KO loss to Mike Tyson at age 31, on June 27, 1988, in which he was fighting for the undisputed heavyweight world championship and lost his The Ring title.
