Tony DeMarco (Boston Bomber) was an American professional boxer. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. on January 14, 1932. He was a welterweight world champion. He died on October 11, 2021 at the age of 89 years. DeMarco was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2019. His professional boxing career spanned more than 13 years — from 1948 to 1962.
DeMarco made his professional boxing debut against Meteor Jones at the age of 16 on October 21, 1948, defeating Jones via 1st round KO. He went on to win 6 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 5 wins via stoppage.
He had his first world title fight at the age of 23 on April 1, 1955 after 51 professional fights, against Johnny Saxton for the welterweight NBA, NYSAC, and The Ring titles. He defeated Saxton via 14th round TKO to become the welterweight champion of the world.
