Morrison made his professional boxing debut against William Muhammad at the age of 19 on November 10, 1988, defeating Muhammad via 1st round TKO. He went on to win 27 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 23 wins via stoppage.
He had his first world title fight at the age of 22 on October 18, 1991 after 28 professional fights, against Ray Mercer for the WBO title. He lost to Mercer via 5th round TKO.
