Eddie Gazo (40-12-2, 22) was born in San Lorenzo, Nicaragua on September 12, 1950. At the age of 18 years on March 1, 1969, he made his professional boxing debut against Omar Perez, losing the fight via 6-round points decision.
On his 37th career fight at 26 years old, Gazo became a super-welterweight world champion on March 5, 1977 after defeating Miguel Ángel Castellini via 15-round unanimous decision to win the WBA and The Ring titles.
Gazo's last fight was a 2nd-round KO loss to Julian Jackson at age 33 on March 17, 1984. He retired on a 6-fight losing streak.
