Erislandy Lara (32-3-3, 19) was born in Guantanamo, Cuba on April 11, 1983. At the age of 25 years on July 4, 2008, he made his professional boxing debut against Ivan Maslov, winning the fight via 4-round points decision.
Lara was elevated as the WBA (Regular) super-welterweight world champion at the age of 31 years and had his first title defense fight against Ishe Smith on December 12, 2014. he successfully defended the title, winning the fight via 12-round unanimous decision.
He then went on to become world champion at the middleweight weight class as well, winning the WBA (Regular) title against Thomas LaManna via 1st-round KO on May 1, 2021.
