Zsolt Erdei (34-1, 18) was born in Budapest, Hungary on May 31, 1974. At the age of 26 years on December 5, 2000, he made his professional boxing debut against Philip Houthoofdt, winning the fight via 1st-round TKO.
On his 19th career fight at 29 years old, Erdei became a light-heavyweight world champion on January 17, 2004 after defeating Julio CĂ©sar GonzĂĄlez via 12-round unanimous decision to win the WBO title.
He then went on to become world champion at the cruiserweight weight class as well, winning the WBC title against Giacobbe Fragomeni via 12-round majority decision on November 21, 2009.
Erdei's last fight was a 10-round unanimous decision win against Shalva Jomardashvili at age 39 on March 9, 2014. He retired with a 1-fight winning streak.
