On January 17, 2004 Zsolt Erdei fought Julio César González in a light-heavyweight world-title fight for González' WBO title. Erdei was 29 years old and with a record of 19-0 (13), and González was 27 years old and with a record of 35-1 (22). Erdei won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new light-heavyweight world champion.
On June 16, 2007 Zsolt Erdei met George Blades in a light-heavyweight (WBO) world-title defense fight. Erdei was 33 years old and with a record of 27-0 (17), and Blades was 32 years old and with a record of 21-2 (15). Erdei stopped George Blades via 11th-round TKO and successfully defended his title.
