Zolani Petelo (17-5-2, 9) was born in Ibhayi, South Africa on September 21, 1975. At the age of 17 years on April 3, 1993, he made his professional boxing debut against Xola Made, winning the fight via 4-round points decision.
On his 15th career fight at 22 years old, Petelo became a strawweight world champion on December 27, 1997 after defeating Ratanapol Sor Vorapin via 4th-round TKO to win the IBF title.
