Sultan Ibragimov (22-1-1, 17) was born in Tlyarata, Dagestan ASSR, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union on March 8, 1975. At the age of 27 years on May 25, 2002, he made his professional boxing debut against Tracy Williams, winning the fight via 1st-round KO.
On his 22nd career fight at 32 years old, Ibragimov became a heavyweight world champion on June 2, 2007 after defeating Shannon Briggs via 12-round unanimous decision to win the WBO title.
Ibragimov's last fight was a heavyweight world-title unification fight against Wladimir Klitschko on February 23, 2008. He lost the fight via 12th-round unanimous decision and lost the WBO title. He retired from the sport of boxing following this loss.
