Samart Payakaroon (21-2, 12) was born in Chacherngsao, Thailand on December 5, 1962. At the age of 19 years on August 24, 1982, he made his professional boxing debut against Netrnoi Sor Vorasingh, winning the fight via 10-round points decision.
On his 12th career fight at 23 years old, Payakaroon became a super-bantamweight world champion on January 18, 1986 after defeating Lupe Pintor via 5th-round KO to win the vacant WBC title.
Payakaroon's last fight was a featherweight world-title fight against Eloy Rojas for Rojas' WBA title on September 11, 1994. He lost the fight via 8th-round TKO. He retired from the sport of boxing following this loss.
