Mike Weaver (41-18-1, 28) was born in Gatesville, Texas, U.S. on June 13, 1951. At the age of 21 years on September 14, 1972, he made his professional boxing debut against Howard Smith, losing the fight via 3rd-round KO.
On his 28th career fight at 28 years old, Mike Weaver got a shot at the WBC heavyweight titles against Larry Holmes on June 22, 1979 but lost the fight via 12th-round TKO.
He became a heavyweight world champion (WBA) on March 31, 1980 at the age of 28 years old, on his 31st career fight, after defeating John Tate via 15th-round KO.
Weaver's last fight was a 6th-round TKO loss to Larry Holmes at age 49 on November 17, 2000. He retired on a 2-fight losing streak.
