Michael Carbajal (49-4, 33) was born in Phoenix, U.S. on September 17, 1967. At the age of 21 years on February 24, 1989, he made his professional boxing debut against Will Grigsby, winning the fight via 4-round unanimous decision.
On his 15th career fight at 22 years old, Carbajal became a light-flyweight world champion on July 29, 1990 after defeating Muangchai Kittikasem via 7th-round TKO to win the IBF title.
He then went on to become world champion at the strawweight weight class as well, winning the WBO title against Josue Camacho via 12-round unanimous decision on July 15, 1994.
Carbajal's last fight was a light-flyweight world-title fight against Jorge Arce for Arce's WBO title on July 31, 1999. He stopped Arce via TKO and was crowned the new light-flyweight world champion. He retired with a 4-fight winning streak.
