Mando Ramos (37-11-1, 23) was born in Long Beach, California, United States on November 15, 1948. At the age of 17 years on November 18, 1965, he made his professional boxing debut against Berlin Roberts, winning the fight via 5-round points decision.
On his 25th career fight at 19 years old, Mando Ramos got a shot at the WBA, WBC and The Ring lightweight titles against Carlos Teo Cruz on September 27, 1968 but lost the fight via 15-round unanimous decision.
He became a lightweight world champion (WBA, WBC and The Ring) on February 18, 1969 at the age of 20 years old, on his 28th career fight, after defeating Carlos Teo Cruz via 11th-round TKO.
