Luis Nery (36-2, 28) was born in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico on December 12, 1994. At the age of 17 years on May 5, 2012, he made his professional boxing debut against José Guadalupe Salgado, winning the fight via 1st-round TKO.
On his 24th career fight at 22 years old, Nery became a bantamweight world champion on August 15, 2017 after defeating Shinsuke Yamanaka via 4th-round TKO to win the WBC and The Ring titles.
He then went on to become world champion at the super-bantamweight weight class as well, winning the WBC title against Shinsuke Yamanaka via 2nd-round TKO on March 1, 2018.
