Lou Del Valle (36-6-2, 22) was born in Long Island City, New York, U.S. on July 13, 1968. At the age of 23 years on January 12, 1992, he made his professional boxing debut against Worthy Hendricks, winning the fight via 4-round unanimous decision.
On his 23rd career fight at 27 years old, Lou Del Valle got a shot at the WBA light-heavyweight titles against Virgil Hill on April 20, 1996 but lost the fight via 12-round unanimous decision.
He became a light-heavyweight world champion (WBA) on September 20, 1997 at the age of 29 years old, on his 28th career fight, after defeating Eddy Smulders via 8th-round TKO.
