James DeGale (25-3-1, 15) was born in Hammersmith, West London, England on February 3, 1986. At the age of 23 years on February 28, 2009, he made his professional boxing debut against Vepkhia Tchilaia, winning the fight via 4-round points decision.
On his 22nd career fight at 29 years old, DeGale became a super-middleweight world champion on May 23, 2015 after defeating Andre Dirrell via 12-round unanimous decision to win the vacant IBF title.
DeGale's last fight was a 12-round unanimous decision loss to Chris Eubank Jr. at age 33 on February 23, 2019. He retired from the sport of boxing following this loss.
