Gerald McClellan (31-3, 29) was born in Freeport, Illinois, U.S. on October 23, 1967. At the age of 20 years on August 12, 1988, he made his professional boxing debut against Roy Hundley, winning the fight via 1st-round KO.
On his 25th career fight at 24 years old, McClellan became a middleweight world champion on November 20, 1991 after defeating John Mugabi via 1st-round TKO to win the vacant WBO title.
McClellan's last fight was a super-middleweight world-title fight against Nigel Benn for Benn's WBC title on February 25, 1995. He lost the fight via 10th-round KO. He retired from the sport of boxing following this loss.
