Dmitry Pirog (20-0, 15) was born in Temryuk, Temryuksky District, Krasnodar Krai, Soviet Union on June 27, 1980. At the age of 25 years on July 29, 2005, he made his professional boxing debut against Sasun Oganyan, winning the fight via 6th-round TKO.
On his 17th career fight at 30 years old, Pirog became a middleweight world champion on July 31, 2010 after defeating Daniel Jacobs via 5th-round KO to win the vacant WBO title.
Pirog's last fight was a middleweight (WBO) world-title defense against Nobuhiro Ishida on May 1, 2012. He won the fight via 12th-round unanimous decision and successfully defended the title. He retired undefeated with a 20-fight winning streak.
