On May 1, 2012 Dmitry Pirog met Nobuhiro Ishida in a middleweight (WBO) world-title defense fight. Pirog was 31 years old and with a record of 20-0 (15), and Ishida was 36 years old and with a record of 24-7-2 (9). Pirog won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and successfully defended his title.
On July 31, 2010 Dmitry Pirog fought Daniel Jacobs in a middleweight world-title fight for the WBO title. Pirog was 30 years old and with a record of 17-0 (14), and Jacobs was 23 years old and with a record of 20-0 (17). Pirog stopped Daniel Jacobs via 5th-round KO and is crowned the new middleweight world champion.
