On December 22, 2018 Carl Frampton fought Josh Warrington in a featherweight world-title fight for Warrington's IBF title. Frampton was 31 years old and with a record of 26-2 (15), and Warrington was 28 years old and with a record of 27-0 (6). Frampton lost the fight via 12-round unanimous decision.
On January 28, 2017 Carl Frampton met Léo Santa Cruz in a featherweight (WBA (Super)) world-title defense fight. Frampton was 29 years old and with a record of 23-1 (14), and Cruz was 28 years old and with a record of 32-1-1 (18). Frampton lost the fight via 12-round majority decision and lost the title.
