Isaac Cruz was born in Mexico City, Mexico on May 23, 1998. He made his professional debut at the age of 16 years on March 14, 2015 against Luis Yan Revilla. Cruz defeated Revilla via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Cruz got his first shot at a world title at the age of 23 after 24 professional fights. On December 5, 2021 Cruz challenged Gervonta Davis' WBA (Regular) lightweight title but lost via 12-round unanimous decision.
He became a world champion on March 30, 2024 at the age of 25 years, after by defeating Rolando Romero, the then-reining WBA super-lightweight champion, via 8th round TKO. This was his 29th fight as a professional.
