On October 24, 1979 Ayub Kalule fought Masashi Kudo in a super-welterweight world-title fight for Kudo's WBA and The Ring titles. Kalule was 25 years old and with a record of 31-0 (17), and Kudo was 28 years old and with a record of 23-0 (12). Kalule won the fight via 15-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new super-welterweight world champion.
On December 19, 1985 Ayub Kalule faced off against Sumbu Kalambay in a middleweight bout at age 31. He was coming in with a record of 46-3 (23), and Kalambay was 29 years old and with a record of 37-2-1 (23). Kalule won the fight via 12-round split decision.
On November 9, 1978 Ayub Kalule faced off against Sugar Ray Seales at age 24. He was coming in with a record of 24-0 (15), and Seales was 26 years old and with a record of 46-4-2 (26). Kalule won the fight via 10-round majority decision.
