Santiago was 27 years old and with a record of 28-3-5 (14), and Donaire was 40 years old and with a record of 42-7 (28). Santiago won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new bantamweight world champion.
On October 29, 2022 Alexandro Santiago faced off against Antonio Nieves in a super-bantamweight bout at age 26. He was coming in with a record of 27-3-5 (14), and Nieves was 35 years old and with a record of 20-3-2 (11). Santiago stopped Antonio Nieves via retirement.
