On August 27, 2000 Uchu Tatsumi fought Alexandre Franca Nogueira for the Shooto featherweight title. It was their second meeting. Tatsumi was 28 years old with a record of 10-0-3, and Nogueira was 22 with a record of 4-0-1. Both Tatsumi and Nogueira were coming off a win. Nogueira submitted Tatsumi via guillotine choke in the 1st round. Failed to capture the title.
