On May 10, 2009 Takeshi Inoue met Rumina Sato in a lightweight (Shooto) title defense fight. Inoue was 29 years old and with a record of 9-10 (7), and Sato was 35 years old and with a record of 24-13-2 (17). Inoue stopped Rumina Sato via 1st-round TKO and successfully defended his title.
