Sokoudjou (19-18, 14) was born in Hom'la, Cameroon on April 18, 1984. At the age of 22 years on July 15, 2006, he made his professional MMA debut against Gary Padilla, winning the fight via 3-round split decision.
On December 29, 2007, 23-year old Sokoudjou made his UFC debut on his 6th professional MMA fight at UFC 79 against Lyoto Machida but lost the fight via submission in the 2nd round.
