On October 25, 2008 Pete Sell faced off against Josh Burkman in a welterweight bout at age 26. He was coming in with a record of 8-4 (3), and Burkman was 28 years old and with a record of 18-7 (12). Sell won the fight via 3-round unanimous decision.
On June 17, 2011 Pete Sell fought Elijah Harshbarger in a welterweight title fight for Harshbarger's Ring of Combat Championship title. Sell was 28 years old and with a record of 9-5 (4). Sell stopped Elijah Harshbarger via 2nd-round submission and is crowned the new welterweight world champion.
