On November 2, 2003 Paul Buentello fought Bobby Hoffman for the KOTC heavyweight title. It was their second meeting. Buentello was 29 years old with a record of 16-8, and Hoffman was 37 with a record of 31-5-1. Buentello was coming off a win and Hoffman was on a 3-fight winning streak. Buentello submitted Bobby Hoffman via verbal in the 2nd round. Crowned the new heavyweight champion.
