On January 31, 2015 Nam Phan fought Takumi Nakayama in a featherweight title fight for Nakayama's Pancrase Championship title. Phan was 31 years old and with a record of 21-14 (14), and Nakayama was 41 years old and with a record of 19-14-6 (8). Phan won the fight via 3-round split decision and is crowned the new Pancrase featherweight champion.
