French won the fight via 3-round split decision and is crowned the new KOTC lightweight champion.
On August 26, 2006 Clay French faced off against Alonzo Martinez in a lightweight bout at age 25. He was coming in with a record of 7-0 (6), and Martinez was 22 years old and with a record of 13-9 (12). French stopped Alonzo Martinez via submission.
On August 5, 2007 Clay French met Buddy Clinton in a lightweight (KOTC Championship) title defense fight. French was 26 years old and with a record of 11-2 (8). French stopped Buddy Clinton via 3rd-round TKO and successfully defended his title.
