      Boxing career

      Tony Canzoneri was an American professional boxer. He was born in Slidell, Louisiana on November 6, 1908. He was a two-weight-class world champion. He died on December 9, 1959 at the age of 51 years. Canzoneri was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 1990. His professional boxing career spanned more than 14 years — from 1925 to 1939.

      Canzoneri made his professional boxing debut against Jack Grodner at the age of 16 on July 24, 1925, defeating Grodner via 1st round KO. He went on to win 18 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 4 wins via stoppage.

      He had his first world title fight on March 26, 1927 at the age of 18, after 39 professional fights, against Bud Taylor with the NBA (vacant) title on the line. The fight ended in a undefined draw.
