      Lionel Rose (Slim) was an Australian professional boxer. He was born in Labertouche, Victoria, Australia on June 21, 1948. He was a bantamweight world champion. Rose died on May 8, 2011 at the age of 62 years. His professional boxing career spanned more than 12 years — from 1964 to 1976.

      Rose made his professional boxing debut against Mario Magris at the age of 16 on September 9, 1964, defeating Magris via 8 round PTS. He went on to win 4 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 2 wins via stoppage.

      He had his first world title fight at the age of 19 on February 27, 1968 after 29 professional fights, against Fighting Harada for the bantamweight WBA, WBC, and The Ring titles. He defeated Harada via 15 round unanimous decision to become the bantamweight champion of the world.
