      Koichi Wajima (Hono no Otoko) is a 81-year old retired Japanese professional boxer. He was born in Shibetsu, Hokkaidō, Japan on April 21, 1943. He is a former two-weight-class world champion. His professional boxing career spanned more than 8 years — from 1968 to 1977.

      Wajima made his professional boxing debut against Akira Takekawa at the age of 25 on June 15, 1968, defeating Takekawa via 1st round KO. He went on to win 11 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 10 wins via stoppage.

      He had his first world title fight at the age of 28 on October 31, 1971 after 24 professional fights, against Carmelo Bossi for the welterweight WBA and WBC titles. He defeated Bossi via 15 round split decision to become the welterweight champion of the world.
