Gene Fullmer (Cyclone) was an American professional boxer. He was born in West Jordan, Utah, U.S. on July 21, 1931. He was a middleweight world champion. He died on April 27, 2015 at the age of 83 years. Fullmer was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 1991. His professional boxing career spanned more than 11 years — from 1951 to 1963.
Fullmer made his professional boxing debut against Buddy Sloan at the age of 20 on August 25, 1951, defeating Sloan via 2nd round KO. He went on to win 20 more consecutive fights after the debut, which included 9 wins via stoppage.
He had his first world title fight at the age of 25 on January 2, 1957 after 32 professional fights, against Sugar Ray Robinson for the middleweight NBA, NYSAC, and The Ring titles. He defeated Robinson via 15 round unanimous decision to become the middleweight champion of the world.
