Vernon Forrest (41-3, 29) was born in Augusta, Georgia, U.S. on February 12, 1971. At the age of 21 years on November 25, 1992, he made his professional boxing debut against Charles Hawkins, winning the fight via 1st-round TKO.
On his 33rd career fight at 30 years old, Forrest became a welterweight world champion on May 12, 2001 after defeating Raul Frank via 12-round unanimous decision to win the vacant IBF title.
He then went on to become world champion at the super-welterweight weight class as well, winning the WBC title against Shane Mosley via 12-round unanimous decision on January 26, 2002.
Forrest's last fight was a super-welterweight world-title fight against Sergio Mora for Mora's WBC title on September 13, 2008. He won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and was crowned the new super-welterweight world champion. He was on a 1-fight winning streak by his last fight.
