Tsuyoshi Hamada (21-2, 19) was born in Nakagusuku, Okinawa, Japan on November 29, 1960. At the age of 18 years on May 21, 1979, he made his professional boxing debut against Norimasa Kakegawa, winning the fight via 2nd-round KO.
On his 22nd career fight at 25 years old, Hamada became a super-lightweight world champion on July 24, 1986 after defeating Rene Arredondo via 1st-round KO to win the WBC title.
Hamada's last fight was a super-lightweight (WBC) world-title defense against Rene Arredondo on July 22, 1987. He lost the fight via 6th-round TKO. He retired from the sport of boxing following this loss.
