On October 20, 2018 Rob Brant fought Ryōta Murata in a middleweight world-title fight for Murata's WBA (Regular) title. Brant was 28 years old and with a record of 24-1 (16), and Murata was 32 years old and with a record of 14-1 (11). Brant won the fight via 12-round unanimous decision and is crowned the new middleweight world champion.
